Milt Kahl

"I got accused over the years of being a fine draftsmen. Actually, I don't really draw all that well. It's just that I don't stop trying as quickly. I keep at it. I happen to have high standards and I try to meet them. I have to struggle like hell to make a drawing look good."
-Milt Kahl

If that doesn't make you feel good, I dunno what will :)

Reflection Value Study Sketch 1

Wow, I've been so busy these past few days preparing for finals I've barely been home, let alone gotten the chance to post!
I'll be finished with my first 3D animation soon, just have to add sound effects. Not a great piece of animation by anymeans, but the amatureness of it I find hilarious.
Anyway, I'm working on a painting for my drawing from imagination class now. We have to paint a reflection. Here's my first pass.

quote, Kimon Nicolaides

"It is necessary to rid yourself of the object as it appears. The quality of absoluteness, the note of authority that the artist seeks depends upon a more complete understanding than the eyes alone can give. To what the eye can see the artist adds feeling and thought. He can, if he wishes, relate for us the adventures of his soul in the midst of life."

-Kimon Nicolaides

I pulled this from Walt Stanchfield's 'Drawn to Life' lectures, vol.2
